Minnesota

Minnesota’s new state flag officially went into effect in May of 2024 replacing the original which was used for over a century. After much deliberation and a call to the state’s citizens, the state’s redesign commission settled on this layout. The dark blue shape (on the left) was made to represent the beautiful night sky and show the silhouette of the state. The white star symbolizes the state motto which is “The Star of the North.” Finally, the light blue color is reminiscent of Minnesota’s waters.
