The flag of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is based on the coat of arms of the Chatham Family. Pittsburgh is named for William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham. The city walls above the shield represent the City of Pittsburgh, serving as a mural crown of sorts.
